INCISE 2025: Surgery Without Borders
INCISE 2025, the annual magazine of the International Student Surgical Network, explores the theme “Surgery Without Borders”—a call for safe, timely, affordable, and equitable surgical care that transcends geography, culture, conflict, and socioeconomic barriers.
This edition brings together contributions from across the InciSioN network, including National Working Group spotlights, personal reflections, artwork, poetry, scientific articles, and opinion pieces. Contributors examine the realities of delivering surgical care in remote communities, conflict-affected settings, refugee populations, and resource-constrained health systems, while also exploring innovations in education, telemedicine, artificial intelligence, simulation, and surgical technology.
Through stories from floating hospitals in Indonesia, youth-led advocacy in Burundi, health-system reflections from Haiti, emerging initiatives in Moldova, and perspectives on workforce development, access, financing, partnerships, and ethical innovation, the magazine highlights the diversity and interconnectedness of the global surgery movement.
At its core, INCISE 2025 demonstrates that surgery without borders is not defined only by movement between countries.
